The Kardashians have beaten the royal family and the Middletons to become the most searched for celebrity family online in Britain.

A survey by online search engine Ask Jeeves found that sisters Kim, Khloe and Kourtney and their brood top the ten most popular famous family searches, followed by the Dahls - author Roald and his granddaughter Sophie.

"The Kardashians are the new celebrity royal family in the eyes of the inquisitive British public," the Daily Mail quoted Oliver Hill, Managing Director of Ask Jeeves, as saying.

"A lot of questions we get are about the families of famous people, and those with notable members across generations - like the Dahls - are very popular.

"If you look at the top ten list it includes celebrities whose children have been in the news, like Will Smith, or whose parents have been talked about, like Kate Middleton," he said.

The top ten most searched for families are:

    1. The Kardashians

    2. The Dahls

    3. The Royal Family

    4. The Middletons

    5. Will Smith's family

    6. The Gerrards

    7. The Jacksons

    8. The Rooneys

    9. The Depps

    10. Lord Alan Sugar and his family (ANI)
